Liam’s restricted archives

I’m Liam Russo—first-year House Naturae student at DawnSpire Academy.

This archive is my private grimoire: I’m documenting the spell logic, the alchemy & herbalism methods, the rules for artifaction, and the friends & foes I meet along the way.

The faculty think magic should stay hidden from plain folk.
No worries, I disagree.

So while they’re not looking, I’m smuggling it out—one page at a time.

the Author

Hello readers,

My name is Anthony Sudano. I’m a pharmacist by day, and an indie author by night.

I turned to writing in 2025. I needed a creative outlet to escape the repetition of my day job. Pharmacy is great, and I love helping people at work—but when you explain the same ten medications over and over again, it starts to get a little dry!

I’ve always been a reader, but over these last few years I felt guilty reading fiction; I was turning thirty, a husband, a working professional, and so I spent my free time reading finance books, self-help books, and learning how to invest the 10% I was supposed to keep away every other week… man it was depressing.

So I turned back to reading—and now writing—fantasy, and I’ve never been happier.

I adore my hometown of Montreal, but I also fell in love with Banff, Alberta when I spent four years there getting my doctorate in pharmacy. I’ve always been a fan of Harry Potter, and since I spent almost ten years in university, you can imagine how much I like academia settings.

I grew up playing video games, especially Blizzard titles like Diablo and World of Warcraft. The guys and I still connect online over League of Legends, or in person in our basements—sipping espresso and playing Magic: The Gathering.

I draw from both my personal and professional experiences when writing. If you enjoy Blizzard games, MTG, Harry Potter, academia settings, and overall YA fantasy, I invite you to check out my work. I’ll be posting the first few chapters here for free on the website—along with a clip of the audiobook I record (providing this doesn’t violate any terms). I’ll also unveil a ton of worldbuilding content that’s staying hidden for now until we get closer to the release date.

Of note, I draw inspiration from my multicultural friend group to craft each of the characters in my story. You’ll see verbal tics that reflect the diasporic communities they come from, and I’ve had each of these friends sensitivity-read to ensure they’re accurate. The book is written in English, but you’ll see the occasional word or two in another language—not enough to confuse you, just enough to give you insight into their backgrounds. The words/expressions/dialects reflect their backstories, and I hope that some of you will connect with them personally.

Finally, I have been blessed in my life to find my life partner early on. My wife and I started dating at 17 years of age, and were married in 2022. I am Italian, and she is Chinese. We enjoyed learning about each other’s cultures through the years, and we even taught each other phrases to communicate with our grandparents (before they passed). I have drawn inspiration from our romance to craft Liam’s own lovestory—it’s personal, and I hope you like it.

Thank you for reading my book(s). They are clean YA—something I plan to read to our children in future.

My inbox is open to you all: sudanowrites@gmail.com.

I’m happy to hear from readers, and hope you all have a lovely day.

Best regards,

Anthony Sudano
